The primary operational focus for a Guard Soldier remains within their home state, making them readily accessible when called upon by state governors or the president. Typically, Guard Soldiers maintain civilian careers while residing close to their families and friends, allowing for a balanced lifestyle. Training commitments generally consist of one weekend each month for drills, complemented by an additional two weeks of Annual Training each year.
